Nidya Melone, President of Rotary Club Calvia International, launched the promotion of the Club’s annual Walk in aid of Charity, under the title “Walk for those who can’t” together with a programme to secure sponsors for the event. The attached “poster” is being used to promote the event and contains details. The Walk will take place at 11am on 7 October at Finca Galatzo - just outside Capdella - (3 separate routes, one for those who want a stroll, one for those who want a walk and one for those who want a challenge or want to ride their Mountain Bike). Afterwards there will be a BBQ at Sa Vinya Restaurant in Capdella. The cost is Euros 10 for either the walk, BBQ or both. Best to book though (see below) because spaces are limited.
Aimed at anyone who wants to have a walk in pleasant surroundings, the Club has secured this historic Finca for the event. There will be Guides for those who want an organised walk and route maps for those who want to amble and sight-see on their own.
At the same time, the entry fee will be going to this year’s Charity, ASDICA* to help it provide help and assistance to a range of clients. A number of Sponsors are already in place, Ajuntament Calvia – who are providing the venue and a host of other things – Generali- who are insuring the event – Sa Vinya Restaurant - providing the BBQ facilities. But, in addition, the Club wants businesses to provide financial sponsorship for the event. Large or small, businesses are being contacted to persuade them to provide a sum of money from Euros 50 upwards to help ensure that a significant sum is raised for ASDICA. The message from Nidya is, “As a business we want to encourage you to lead by example, to give back to your community and help those who can't always help themselves. Your image and reputation will be associated with a local, worthwhile cause and all for 50 to few hundred euros. Give us a call. Rotary Club of Calvia International and the handicapped clients of ADSICA would love to hear from you."
All Sponsors will be acknowledged by the Club in promoting the event, in the Press, on Social media and at the event itself. This is a great opportunity for any business to become associated with a significant charitable organisation like Rotary as well as providing valuable cash resources which go directly to a local and worthwhile Charity. Nidya said “Sponsorship is vital for an event like this. The contributions made by those taking part are, of course, significant but it is business sponsors who we hope will provide the money which will really make a difference to ASDICA” So, businesses on the Island, and particularly those in and around the Calvia area can expect a call from the Rotary Club Calvia International.
Anyone who wishes to contribute before they get a call can get in touch with John Legate, his e-mail address is [email protected] Anyone wishing to book on line for the Walk can do so by simply e-mailing:[email protected]
